It features a clear plastic jar (similar to the plastic that water bottles are made out of) and a plastic lid that has a digital LCD display. There are only two buttons on the lid, a “+” and a “-”, which you can use to manually add the correct value of your coins (quarters, dimes, pennies, half dollars and dollar coins). Though if you just push the coins through the slot, it will automatically read the coins and calculate the value of your change. There is a reset button on the bottom of the lid. The coin bank requires two AAA batteries that are not included.
For a kids toy/coin bank, this is a fun way to count the coin savings. It's not terribly accurate (put a quarter in too slowly, and it'll register as a nickle - and then a quarter, for example.) It could certainly have used some smarter circuitry and sensors to know what you put in and when you put it in. Also, putting the coins in isn't as simple as just dropping them in - they do need a fair amount of force to put them into the bank.
